PayPal is an e-commerce provider that enables people to establish a PayPal account. Users can use a credit card or bank account for creating the account on PayPal. Once the account is established, Internet users can purchase goods and services by using the PayPal account.

It was created in 1998 as confinity by Max Levchin and others with support from Peter Thiel.

As of 2020, PayPal is an 18,000-employee company, and their services as a method of payment are available for more than 200 countries.
