"'Maharana Pratap"', also known as "'Pratap Singh I," was a Hindu Rajput king of Mewar. He is remembered for his military resistance to the Mughal Empire's expansionism, including his participation in the Battle of Haldighati, which he lost, and the Battle of Dewair, 1582, which he won and reclaimed his lost territory.

Maharana Pratap was the son of Udai Singh II of Mewar and Jaiwanta Bai, and was born into a Hindu Rajput dynasty. He succeeded his father as king of Mewar after Udai Singh died in 1572.
